- 5 / 5By Kyle ThompsonFor me, this was one of the best Afternoon / High Teas I've ever enjoyed.
We were greeted with a huge smile by Abigail herself as we arrived for our 230p Sunday before Fathers Day reservation of 5 (2 adults and 3 children). This warm welcome set the tone for the next couple of hours.
In an old Bank building, the decor and setting was quaint Victorian, and perfect for its current purpose. Little touches like unique bone china tea cups for each patron, and similar variety of tea pots make one truly feel like they are in a small town tea house somewhere off the beaten tourist trail in England.
Let me add at this point that I am not a fan of tea houses that try to 'put their own twist' on high tea, offering crazy flavor combinations that only uber foodies would appreciate. I prefer traditional afternoon tea... plain scones (e.g. NO raisins), fresh finger sandwiches with simple ingredients, and deserts that I look forward to.
Here Abigail's hits a home run. Tea started with a small fresh fruit cup, followed by a small plate of their delicious chicken salad. Both were excellent. Next came the traditional 3 tier presentation. Their scones and deserts are all in house made (and available in the retail Bakery two doors down the road). The sandwiches were clearly fresh and flavourful without having to move away from traditional.
As I mentioned we were joined by our somewhat picky 3 children (8, 8, and 10). They thoroughly enjoyed the 'secret' menu item of the Lady Bug afternoon tea, which included (to their delight) a few small dollar store items (pencil, pad, and toy) in addition to kid friendly food items (like a peanut butter and jam sandwich made to look like a lady bug).
Between the fantastic food, friendly and attentive service, and welcoming atmosphere for well behaved children, Abigail's definitely earns 5 stars.
We will be back again on September with even more family!April 28, 2017 - 5 / 5By Carlie MA very tastefully decorated location in historic downtown St George. - 5 / 5By Alex ReesThe tea house is beautiful. Excellent service and wonderful quality food, presented beautifully. The offerings are a bit different each time, however the quality and presentation remain very high. It's a very nice experience.December 09, 2016
